Plant 500 - 1000 plants per flat. (It's a good idea to plant two control 
 pots, one with wild-type and another with a known Basta resistant strain). 
 

 Apply BASTA solution after the cotyledons have emerged, but before the true 
 leaves have extended. Apply the spray in the fume hood. Wait one day 
 between sprayings and reapply BASTA two more times. 
 

 Herbicide solution: 100 mL Water + 120 µL of 1M BASTA stock (Gluphosinate 
 ammonium); final concentration of herbicide is 240 µg/mL. You can also add 
 50 µL of Silwet-77 to aid in BASTA absorption. Store the stock in at 4° in 
 the dark.
